WADESBORO - On Tuesday, September 16, 2025, Mr. Van Wilson "Wink" Myers, 93, passed away peacefully to be with his Lord and Savior and to be reunited with his beloved wife, Rachel Adcock Myers.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM, Saturday, September 20, 2025, in the Chapel of Leavitt Funeral Home with Rev. Sam Abee and Rev. Dwight Huffman officiating. Interment will follow in Anson Memorial Park.
The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Saturday.
Wink was born February 9, 1932, in Anson County, NC, and was a son of the late Vernon Myers and the late Lessie Burch Myers.
As a young man, he worked with a well-drilling company and also painted houses. He could ride around Wadesboro and point out homes where he drilled the well and painted. He later worked for many years with Allen Bennett Company in Wadesboro, delivering groceries.
Wink retired from CMC Building Supply in Wadesboro, and following retirement, he worked part-time with Anson County Schools.
Wink was a faithful member of the Wadesboro Church of God for more than 60 years, where he and his wife worshipped and served together. He served and honored his Lord in his daily living and support of the church and its ministries.
A lifelong resident of Wadesboro, other than his service in the United States Army, he was widely known and respected in the community and by his family and friends. He was an excellent storyteller and often told of his younger days and growing up in Wadesboro. He brought joy and laughter to all he came in contact with. His simple honesty and loving presence will be missed by all who loved him.
Those who are left to cherish his memory are his Myers nieces and nephews, Jane, Karen, Jeannie, Sam, Mary, Martha, James, Jr., Ronna, Ina Rachel, and Patricia, and their families, and his stepdaughter, Joan Killeen of Eden Prairie, MN.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Rachel Adcock Myers, on May 14, 202,5, and by his brother and sisters, James Myers, Augusta Pegram, Betty Polson, Ina Snipes, Vada Treadaway, Tee Hathaway, and Doris Ricketts.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Wadesboro Church of God, 809 N. Greene St., Wadesboro, NC 28170 or to the Church of God Children's Home, 3485 Orphanage Circle, Concord, NC 28027.
