Vance Pigford

Vance Pigford was born January 23, 1956, in Newark, New Jersey, to William and Mary Pigford. A proud Newark Native, he graduated from Central High School and served honorably in the United States Army.
A self-taught painter, Vance built a career beautifying homes, but his greatest gift was connecting with people. Known for his quick wit and infectious humor, he was truly a people's person. Whether joking with neighbors, chatting with crossing guards, or sitting behind the counter at his local neighborhood stores discussing various topics, he made everyone feel seen and valued.
Vance was a diehard Eagles fan. He also loved biking, fishing, live music, and time with friends, but most of all he cherished his family. Vance enjoyed enormous amounts of time with his daughters and grandchildren. His laughter filled rooms, his presence lifted spirits, and his generosity touched countless lives. Vance shared a special and unbreakable bond with his grandson Malik; they lovingly called each other best friends, a testament to the joy they brought one another.
Vance now reunites with his parents William Pigford and Mary Pigford, and his siblings Vincent Pigford, Brian Pigford, Jeffery Pigford, and Beverly Pigford. He leaves behind his children Balil Phillips, Katrina Thompson, Vance Hernandez, and Sharnea Pigford, his son-in-law Mark (Markie), grandchildren Zamier Douglas, Zhayon Thompson, Tzuriya Thompson, and Malik Collins, and a wide circle of friends who will forever carry his memory in their hearts.
