Vanessa Laverne Smith was born on August 27, 1962, in Altus, Oklahoma, to the late James G. Smith Jr. and Vera Mae Smith (Hairston).
As the daughter of a military father, Vanessa experienced life in many states and countries before eventually settling in Columbus, Ohio, which became her permanent home. She graduated from Eastmoor High School and went on to attend The Ohio State University, leading to a fulfilling career in the medical field.
She had a gentle spirit and a heart full of kindness. Vanessa was known for being sweet, caring, and incredibly giving. Her warmth and friendliness drew people to her, and everyone who knew her cherished her presence. She will always be remembered as someone truly loved by all.
Her love for family and friends was unwavering, and the impact she made will never be forgotten. Vanessa touched countless lives with her kindness, humor, and strength.
She leaves behind her beloved husband, Leif Smith Sr.; her son, Leif Smith Jr.; her daughter, Lindsey Patrick (Smith); her son-in-law, Mason Patrick; her uncle, Robert Smith; and many cherished relatives and friends who will continue to honor her memory. She was preceded in death by her parents, James G. Smith Jr. and Vera Mae Smith (Hairston), and her sister Natalie Monique Smith.
