In Loving Memory of Vanessa Thompson
April 15, 1953 – March 25, 2026
With deep sorrow and heartfelt love, we announce the passing of Vanessa Thompson, who entered eternal rest on March 25, 2026. She was a devoted mother, a woman of strong faith, and a shining light to all who knew her.
Vanessa loved the Lord with all her heart, and her faith was the foundation of her life. She was a faithful and dedicated member of Mayfield Baptist Church, where she served as a Sunday School teacher for five years, pouring wisdom, love, and the Word of God into the lives of others. In her spirit of compassion and service, she was also the founder of a sympathy club, which she led for two years, offering comfort, care, and support to those in times of loss and need.
Vanessa will always be remembered for her beautiful smile — a smile that could light up any room and bring comfort to anyone who needed it. It reflected her kindness, her warmth, and the genuine love she had for people.
Her love for her family was unwavering, and she took great pride in being a source of support, comfort, and guidance to those she held dear.
She was preceded in death by her father, Mr. Willie Anderson; her mother, Earline Anderson; her sisters, Ruby Anderson and Bertha Stevens; and her former husband, Charlie Thompson.
She leaves to cherish her loving memory her daughter, Kathy Collins (Bobby); her sons, Charlie Thompson (Cynthia) and Paul Thompson (Tasha); her sister, Mary Meredith; her brother, Luther Anderson; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends.
She will be remembered for her warm heart, her gentle spirit, and the love she freely gave to everyone around her. Vanessa’s life was a reflection of grace, compassion, and faith, leaving a lasting impact on her family, friends, and church community.
Though our hearts are heavy, we take comfort in knowing she is now at peace, resting in the presence of the Lord she loved so deeply.
“Well done, good and faithful servant.”
— Matthew 25:23
