Vaun Miskin Obituary

Vaun Robert "Bob" Miskin (May 29, 1949) lived a life illustrating the quiet example of an extraordinary human heart, a life dedicated to his family, church, friends, and community. Bob left us suddenly on November 13, 2025, at his St. Charles, Idaho, home.
Bob was a joyful father and friend. A man who enjoyed the ease of laughter, at times a big personability, simultaneously silly and profound. He approached every encounter with an unassuming spirit and an open question. To be in Bob's presence was to be seen; his gentle inquiries were his way of inviting you in and creating a sense of comfort to those around him. Those who knew and loved him best would agree that he was a gentle giant who was wholly humble, unaware of the rare light he carried as he touched the lives of the people he encountered.
Bob was born in Ogden, Utah to Melba Miskin. He spent his youth chasing horses and throwing the football around. He learned early to shoulder a lot of responsibility as the oldest son in a single-parent household. His path led him to Weber State University, where he found his place on the gridiron and, more importantly, found Diane Shirra, the partner who would become his compass. Their bond was sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on September 13, 1973. Together, they built a family of four children, a tapestry that knew both profound joy and the early, heartbreaking loss of their youngest son.
Bob served in the East Central States Mission, where the humble people of Appalachia left an indelible mark on his heart. He carried that experience with him always, often recalling its echo in the words he would sing: "green hills and valleys, 'tis where I labored, East Central States, so dear to me." Bob continuously strived to nurture his relationship with Heavenly Father.
Bob was determined to be the kind of father he didn't have. He loved his children relentlessly even when they didn't make it easy. He founded and owned an advertising company and then a printing company. He eventually gave up this company in an effort to save one of his children from a destructive path, choosing his family over his business. From his childhood, Bob's first love was horses and throughout his life he gently cared for and trained many. He also loved to teach young people the same quality and cherished passing on this knowledge to his children, grandchildren, and well, anyone that would allow him to share his passion with them. In 2000 Bob and his wife Diane relocated from the Kaysville, Utah area to embrace a new adventure in Paris Idaho, restoring a beautiful turn of the century hotel.
Bob was a cowboy at heart. Through this time Bob also tended to the horses and other animals he loved on a peaceful farm where he always felt most at home. Though he had many roles in his life, his most important was that of caring husband and father. His life remains a timeless measure of what it means to be truly kind.
Bob was preceded in death by his sons Paul Brandon Miskin, and Matthew Blake Miskin. He is survived by his wife Diane Miskin, Son Jason Miskin (Chelsea), Daughter, Julare Morris (Robert) and eight grandchildren, Jorah, Jeshua, Senaah Siaha, Cora, Graham, Asher, and Isabelle.
Receiving condolences on November 20th, 2025, at the ST. Charles Church from 9:30 a.m. until 11:00 a,m.
Graveside service and dedication of the grave will take place after the visitation at the ST. Charles Cemetery
