Valley Hills Funeral Home - YakimaVelda Maxine Wine, age 88, passed away peacefully at home on February 23, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. Our hearts are heavy as we say goodbye to her. Velda was born in Weiser, Idaho, on July 19, 1937, to Franklin Madison Wilson and Beatrice Jane (Snider) Wilson. When she was six years old, her family moved to Tieton, WA, where she grew up. She graduated from Highland High School in 1955. Later that same year, she met Lloyd Nobbs, and they were married on June 16, 1956. Velda and Lloyd built their life together in the Yakima Valley, where they spent their entire married life. They shared 50 years of marriage until his passing in June 2006.
Velda married Ron Wine in 2008, and they shared their lives together until his passing in December 2022. Velda lived a simple, grounded life and found joy in everyday things. She took great pride in her garden, loved playing the piano, enjoyed quilting with her friends; and her home was always filled with the aroma of delicious baked goodies.
She loved her family in practical ways – through her work, her time and her quiet presence. We will miss her steady support, her example, and the comfort of knowing she was always there.
She is survived by her children: Janice Cook of Kirkland, WA, Gerald Nobbs of Tacoma, WA, Valerie Anderson (Edward Lyden) of Kirkland, WA, and Steven Nobbs (Kari) of Terrace Heights, WA. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Jarred (Kristine) Henley, Justin Henley, and Jesse Henley, Kurt Anderson and Kayla Anderson, as well as seven great grandchildren: Isaac, Noah, Kale, Davilynn, Cassius, Victoria, and Eleanor.
A memorial service will be held on March 28, 2026 at 2:00 pm at Valley Hills Funeral Home.
