Velina Suzette Pugh, affectionately known as Suzette, was a beacon of kindness and love, whose spirited nature brought joy to all who knew her. Born on June 26, 1965, in Mobile, Alabama, Suzette's journey through life was marked by compassion, dedication, and an unwavering Christian faith. She departed this world on October 13, 2025, in San Antonio, Texas, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Suzette was a cherished daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. Her parents, Julius C. Pugh and Audrey P. Pugh, and her beloved niece, Savannah Adams Pugh, preceded her in death. Their legacy of love and strength lived on through Suzette.
Left to honor Suzette's memory is her beloved sister, Stephanie Pugh (Anthony), Sister-in-Law Michelle Pearson. Brothers; Sean Jones (Aquilla), Evan Hartman, and Tyreek Harris; Wesley Harris; her adored nephew, Ronnie Adams Jr.; her nieces, Latoria Hollins and Porsche Hogg; and long time friends, Mr. and Mrs. Valerie and Ricky Richardson and Ms. Angela Chambers. Suzette's impact extended to a host of friends and coworkers at Mission Trails Baptist Hospital, where she served with dedication for 20 years.
Suzette's educational journey began in the San Antonio Independent School District system and continued at St. Phillips Community College, where she furthered her education. She devoted herself to the healthcare field, first as a certified nurse assistant and later as a unit secretary admissions clerk at Mission Trails Baptist Hospital. Even as her health declined, Suzette's commitment to caring for others never wavered.
Throughout her life, Suzette exemplified what it means to be loving and kind. Her Christian values were the cornerstone of her existence, guiding her actions and interactions with everyone she met. Suzette's spirited nature was a source of comfort and inspiration, a testament to her belief in the power of faith and the goodness of people.
Suzette's story is one of unwavering love, service to others, and a legacy that will be cherished and remembered by all who had the privilege to know her. Her light continues to shine in the hearts of those she touched, a reminder of the beauty and grace she embodied. Suzette will be deeply missed, yet her spirit will live on, a guiding force for all whose lives she graced.
