Mrs. Velma Grubb Carrol, 91, passed away peacefully at her home in Harpersville, Alabama, on March 18, 2024, surrounded by loved ones. She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 70 years, JW "Jake" Carrol. The family will have a private graveside service on March 30, 2024.
Velma, born December 7, 1932, will be remembered for her many accomplishments. From an early age, she held leadership roles in multiple academic clubs, including Vice President of the local and county 4-H. Velma was elected the most outstanding young lady and graduated valedictorian of her senior class. Velma spent her life as a devoted follower of Christ and was truly the foundation and backbone of her family. Velma loved and was loved by all her children, grandchildren, and especially her great-grandchildren and she always ensured their favorite treats were made on every special occasion. She also enjoyed playing cards, dominoes, and puzzles with family and friends. Velma was a genuine servant to her faith which led her to support more than 30 Alabama's Campers on Mission projects.
Velma is survived by her three children, Ricky Carrol (Barbara), Sue Evans (Leonard), and Patti Scarver (Huey). Her three grandchildren also survive her, Tawnya Gaston (George), Jason Sinkar (Siovhan), and Jamie Crawford; along with five great-grandchildren, Roxanna Sinkar, Jason Gaston, Aaron Gallegos, Matthew Gaston, and Cameron Gaston.
