Velma Jeanette Porter Clark's Story:

The world gently said farewell to a beloved wife and mother, Velma Jeanette Porter Clark, on January 21, 2026, following her battle with a longtime illness. She passed peacefully in the comfort of her home, surrounded by love, with her devoted husband by her side. Velma Jeanette Porter Clark was born on May 3, 1948, in Atlanta, Georgia, to the late Marion Magdalene Sloan Porter and Robert Alton Porter. She entered the world alongside her twin sister, Thelma Smith, who preceded her in death. A proud graduate of L.J. Price High School in Atlanta, Georgia, Velma met and married her high school sweetheart, First Sergeant Leonard "Red" Clark, in 1966. Their union of 59 years was a testament to enduring love, partnership, and devotion. Velma began her professional career in data entry services, working for many years in downtown Atlanta before embarking on a life of travel with her family, including a relocation to Nuremberg, Germany. As a military spouse, Velma embraced the opportunity to see the world while steadfastly nurturing her family. She dedicated her life to Christ at an early age, and wherever her journey led, she remained an active and faithful member of her church community. Her faith, grace, and quiet strength guided her life and touched all who knew her. Velma found her greatest joy in traveling, sharing laughter with close friends, and spending treasured time with her family, moments she held close to her heart. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, John Robert Porter and Jeff Porter; and her sisters, Mary Porter and her beloved twin, Thelma Smith. Velma leaves to cherish her memory her husband of 59 years, Leonard "Red" Clark, Sr.; her son, Leonard Clark, Jr.; and her daughter, LaToya Clark. She is also survived by her brothers, Emerson Porter, Vincent Porter (Larae), and Patrick Porter (Tina); her sister-in-law, Dee Porter; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other loving family members and dear friends.
