Velma B. Kinsey

1931 - 2025

Velma B. Kinsey, age 94 of Glendive, Montana passed away on Monday, October 27, 2025 at the Billings Clinic in Billings, Montana. Visitation will be from 9:00 AM until 10:00 AM with Funeral Services beginning at 10:00 AM on Monday, November 3, 2025 at the Silha Funeral Home in Glendive. Interment will be in the Dawson Memorial Cemetery in Glendive. Silha Funeral Home of Glendive has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Velma was born January 24, 1931 in Glendive to her parents Eugene and Beulah (Ingraham) Patterson. She was raised and educated in Glendive where she attended the Golden Valley Rural School through the eighth grade. Velma was united in marriage to Edward Kinsey, January 26, 1949 in Glendive and to this union six daughters were born. Velma worked as a waitress and later as a cook for her entire career, she worked at the Glendive Bakery, Trail Star Truck Stop and the Wagon Wheel to name a few, until her retirement in 1996.

Velma was a lifetime member of Women of the Moose and the VFW Auxiliary. She enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, reading, bowling, playing bingo and pinochle. Velma loved being outside working in her yard and her garden and tending to her flowers. Above everything else, she deeply loved her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Edward in 2002; two daughters, Clare Sand and Marlene Kinsey; one grandson, Shawn Wieland; one son-in-law, Randy Beaudry; five sisters and four brothers.

Velma is survived by four daughters, Nancy Kinsey of Denver, Colorado, Tammy (Herschel) Helmuth of Glendive, Carrie (John) Wieland of Billings and Edie Barowsky of Billings; seven grandchildren; four great grandchildren; one sister, Patty Stephens of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, and numerous nieces and nephews.
