Velma Lynn Lebleu Fontenot, a cherished mother and devoted housewife, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, in Lafayette, Louisiana, at the age of 70. Born on Saturday, December 18, 1954, in St. Landry, Louisiana, Velma was a beacon of love and care, always ensuring that her family had everything they needed. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 22, 2025 at Ardoin Funeral Home in Mamou at 1:30 PM. Burial will follow in the Pine Point Cemetery
Throughout her life, Velma embodied warmth and kindness, traits that endeared her to all who knew her. She poured her heart into her family, raising her son, Jamie Lebleu, and her three daughters, Susan Longino, Ruth Fontenot, and Virginia Fontenot, cultivating an atmosphere filled with affection and support.
Velma's legacy lives on through her 17 grandchildren: Keon, Jamie Shay, Chance, Josie, Jacoby, Melanie, Katelynn, Alex, Abby, Jason, Dawn, Donald, Nathan, Adam, Brittany, Shania, and Shane. In addition, her 28 great-grandchildren continue to carry forward the love she so freely shared.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 55 years, Alphy Fontenot; parents, Adam and Adaline Chapman Lebleu; four brothers, two sisters; and her cherished grandson, Tyler Lebleu.
In her spare time, Velma enjoyed baking and working in her yard, activities that brought her joy and allowed her to express her nurturing spirit. Her contributions to her family and community will be cherished forever.
Family and friends will gather to celebrate Velma’s life on Saturday, November 22, 2025 at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Mamou beginning at 10:00 AM until time of services.
