Velma Berk Morris

Velma Berk Morris July 5, 1937 – November 6, 2025

Velma Berk Morris, a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, educator, and servant of Christ, passed peacefully into the arms of her Savior on November 6, 2025, at the age of 88.

She is survived by her beloved children, Kevin Berk and Krista Dickson; her treasured grandchildren, Abby, Robby, and Drew; and a great-granddaughter soon to arrive, whose life will be touched by Velma's enduring legacy. She also leaves behind her dear siblings Ralph Betz, Dale Betz, and Betty Baker, whose lives were enriched by her steadfast love.

Born in Kensington, Ohio, on July 5, 1937, Velma spent her formative years in Alliance, Ohio, where her gentle spirit and love for learning began to blossom. She attended Malone University, a place that not only nurtured her faith and intellect but also led her to Robert C. Berk, whom she married after being introduced by her brother-in-law. Velma and Robert shared 14 years of marriage until his passing, raising a family grounded in love, faith, and resilience.

Velma's heart found joy again later in life when she married Earl Leon Morris. Their seven years together were filled with laughter, companionship, and grace, until Leon's passing. Velma welcomed Leon's children Sandi, Susan and David as her own, and rejoiced in the addition of 6 more grand children to her extended family.

A lifelong educator, Velma taught elementary and preschool children with warmth and patience, shaping young minds with kindness and care. She later transitioned to a distinguished administrative career with the Department of Defense, where she served for over 20 years with integrity and dedication.

Velma's life was a testament to her unwavering faith in Jesus Christ. Her love for the Lord was evident in every conversation, every act of service, and every prayer she lifted for those she cherished. Her home was a sanctuary of peace, her words a balm of encouragement, and her presence a reflection of God's grace. Her church families at Cherrydale Baptist, Immanuel Bible, and Cornerstone were a source of life-long friends and support.

Velma will be remembered for her radiant smile, her generous heart, and her unshakable faith. Her journey on earth may have ended, but her spirit lives on in the lives she touched and the love she gave so freely.
