Myron Bruce Fitch, known affectionately as Bruce by his friends and family, passed away peacefully on November 3, 2025, at the age of 84, in
Falls Church, Virginia surrounded by family at Fairfax Inova. Born on November 1, 1941, in Youngstown, Ohio, Bruce was a man of exceptional character and warmth, whose life was marked by a deep commitment to his family, his faith, and his country.
Bruce is survived by his beloved wife, Laura Macary Fitch, whom he married on a beautiful spring day, May 27, 1993, in Arlington, Virginia. Bruce has a large and vibrant family to include. , Lowell Blankenship, Glenn Fitch, Linda Patterson, sister-in-law Barbara Macary and mother-in-law Ann Macary. Bruce was predeceased by his brother, Charles Fitch, whose memory he held close to his heart. The bond they shared was a testament to the enduring nature of family ties. Bruce was a proud father to his sons, Christopher Bruce Fitch and Andrew Paul Fitch (Melinda), and a cherished stepfather to Paul James Graf (Melissa), James Michael Graf (Deborah), and Ann Marie Connor (Eddie). His legacy continues through his adored grandchildren-Angela, Michael (Kate), Zachary, Brandon (Kourtney), Tayler, Jonathan, EJ, Ryan, Kaitlyn, and William-and his treasured great-grandchildren, Alanna, Alexander, Andrew, and Logan. He is also survived by loving nephews, nieces, and cousins of which he cherished.
A patriot at heart, Bruce honorably served his country for four years in the Air Force before embarking on a distinguished 39-year career as an accountant at the GSA. An alumnus of the University of Maryland, Bruce was not only intelligent but also passionate about continuous learning and personal growth. His intellectual curiosity was matched only by his love for engaging in meaningful conversations with those around him. His dedication to public service was unwavering, and his work ethic and integrity were an inspiration to all who knew him. Bruce was also a Huge Maryland Terrapin and West Virginia football and basketball fan. He loved to fish and eat seafood especially oysters and steamed crabs. His favorite fish to eat was Rockfish. He was raised in Baileysville West Virginia and stared in basketball at Baileysville high school in Wyoming Co. West Virginia.
Known for his loving and kind demeanor, Bruce was a man who effortlessly touched the lives of all who knew him. His gentle presence was a source of comfort and strength, and his ability to listen and offer wise counsel made him a cherished friend and confidant. His kindness was not reserved for family alone, as he extended his warmth to friends, neighbors, and even strangers who were fortunate enough to cross his path.
Bruce was a man of deep faith. He was a gentle soul with a passion for life's simple pleasures, including the melodious songs of birds, the thrill of college sports, the allure of classic cars, and the universal language of music. Bruce's love for his family was unparalleled, and he cherished every moment spent with them.
Those who had the pleasure of knowing Bruce will remember him as a loving husband, father, and friend. His intelligence, passion, and unwavering love left an indelible mark on the hearts of many. Bruce's memory will be cherished and celebrated by all who were fortunate enough to have been touched by his gracious spirit.
