Alfred "Al" Troublefield, a talented artist and incredible friend, passed away peacefully on October 9th, 2025, in Salisbury Maryland. Born on December 21st, 1937, Al lived an exciting and meaningful life, touching the hearts of all who knew him with his kindness, thoughtfulness, and love of art, film, and meaningful connection with others. He truly was a gentle man. A graduate of the University of Maryland, Al's creativity led him down many career paths, from teaching high school art classes in Delaware to creating sketches for Vogue magazine in New York. Al's creativity, love of travel & people took him across the world, with having lived in Maryland, Virginia, Utah, New York, and Ireland, building lasting friendships along his journey. Though Al never married or had children, he built a family of friends who loved him deeply. Known for his soft heart and gentle nature, Al was compassionate, always ready to listen, share stories, and do thoughtful gestures to show how much he cared. His sentimental nature showed through the many gifts he thoughtfully gave to those he loved. Al's love for animals, especially dogs, was a reflection of his kind soul and compassion.
A creature of habit, Al was always punctual, calling at the exact time agreed upon or showing up plenty early when dining out with friends. He found happiness in life's simply pleasures, like sharing stories, discussing history, and watching old movies, especially those starring Elizabeth Taylor. Whether exploring new countries, creating new artwork, or watching old films, Al lived with a loving heart and an appreciation for life.
Al's legacy is one of love, thoughtfulness, kindness, and service to others. He leaves behind many friends that consider him family because of his incredible loyalty and love towards them. There was rarely a conversation that was ended without learning something new about art, history, world news, or old Hollywood as his knowledge was vast and his memory impeccable. His friendship was truly a gift for those fortunate enough to have really known him. His memory will live on in the hearts of his chosen family, who will cherish the love & richness he brought to their lives.
There will be a celebration of life held on Saturday, November 15th 2025 from 1:00 - 3:00pm at 133 Village Oak Dr. Salisbury, Md 21804. Anyone is welcome to join us in remembering Al.
