Vera Sanscharowskiy Morich

Vera Morich

Age 87 of Elmira Heights, NY passed away on Saturday, January 10, 2026. Vera was born on September 6, 1938 in Kharkov, Ukraine, the daughter of the late Fedor and Natalia Rudvanska Sanscharowskiy.

She was a graduate of Elmira Free Academy and married John Morich in 1961. Vera was employed as an associate at Artistic Greetings before serving the Elmira Heights community as a self-employed beautician, enjoying many years of friendship and camaraderie with the women of her community. Vera would want everyone to know and express her sincere gratitude for the friendships and memories she shared with her customers over the years.

Vera was pre-deceased by her loving husband of 62 years, John Morich; her beloved daughter, Diane Morich Garvey; her parents, Fedor and Natalia; her sister, Zena Sweet; and her brothers, Anatoli, Nikolaj, and Alex.

She is survived by her sister, Nena Sanscharowskiy of Montour Falls, NY; her brother, Michael (Jeanne) Sanscharowskiy of Bloomington, IN; her son-in-law, Joseph F. Garvey of Corning, NY; as well as several nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

In keeping with Vera's wishes, there will be no memorial service. Instead, she asked that family and friends remember her in their own way. Vera will be laid to rest beside her husband and daughter in Woodlawn Cemetery in Elmira, NY.
