The Homegoing Celebration for Mrs. Vera Mae Solomon of Montezuma, Georgia, will be held Thursday, January 29, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Zion Grove Baptist Church, 91 Whitehouse Road, Montezuma, Georgia. Interment will follow at Champ Waters Cemetery, 191 Twin Churches Road, Montezuma, Georgia.

Vera Mae Hubbard Solomon was born on December 16, 1940, in Montezuma, Georgia to Jim Hubbert Sr. and Mary Lee Trice-Hubbert. She grew up in Macon County and attended Piney Grove School.

Vera was united in holy matrimony to Junior Solomon. Together, they were blessed with three children: Baby Solomon, Beulah Solomon, and Timothy Solomon. Sadly, all three children preceded her in death.

Vera accepted Christ as her personal savior and became a member of Zion Grove Baptist Church. She was an active participant on the Usher's Ministry and the Kitchen Ministry, always willing to lend a helping hand wherever it was needed.

Vera exemplified the value of hard work throughout her life. She dedicated over thirty years of service to Southern Frozen Foods before retiring. She also worked briefly at T&C Family Restaurant and at Riverview Senior Center. She was well known as an excellent cook. Her specialty was her famous egg custard.

Vera Mae Solomon departed this life on January 21, 2026, in Montezuma, Georgia. She was preceded in death by her eleven siblings: Ananius Hubbard, Elder J.H. Hubbard, Johnnie Lee Hubbard, Mamie Hubbard Stinson, Lillie B. Hubbard McKenzie, Timothy Hubbard, Willie Marie Hubbard, Lena Mae Hubbard Hillmon, Frank Hubbard, Tommy Hubbard, and Lindy Hubbard Johnson.

Left with fond memories of Vera are her siblings: Annie Lee Thomas and Myra Oliver of Montezuma, Georgia, Mary Louise Collier of Bonaire, Georgia, and Jett (Barbara) Hubbert of Columbus, Ohio; her grandchildren: Timothy Solomon, Jr., of Oglethorpe, Georgia and Courtney (Cassandra) Smith of Fort Valley, Georgia; her great-grandchildren: Porshauna Draines, Timothy Solomon III, Jeremiah Solomon, Ja'Mir Solomon, Jaylon George, and Autumn Smith; her sisters-in-law: Hattie Hubbard and Bettye Jo McKenzie of Montezuma, Georgia; her loving nieces and nephews; her bonus sons: Charles Ivey and Norman Carter; her bonus daughters; devoted friends: Mayomma Baldwin and family; other loving relatives and friends.
