Verda's life began on February 11, 1927 in the Burns, KS area; the daughter of Harry and Grace (Padgett) Selvey. She loved her family and worked hard to provide for her family. She was united in marriage to William L. Yaryan and after his passing was later united in marriage to Al Stoskopf.
Verda believed in service and in doing so she helped start the local school lunch program and served for many years with the Susan B. Allen Memorial Hospital "Pink Ladies". She was witty and held strong opinions. She enjoyed bowling, playing cards and traveling. She was able to travel to all 50 states, traveled internationally and was able to go on many cruises and road trips.
Verda was a woman of faith and was a member of the First United Methodist Church in El Dorado for over 80 years. She was proud to serve her church and enjoyed her time in the United Methodist Women's Circle.
Her family includes her children: Craig Yaryan of El Dorado and Bronna Leach of El Dorado; step-children Dave (Sharon) Stoskopf, Mark Stoskopf and Joni (Dave) Augustine; granddaughter Janna (Stephen) Palmer of Wichita; great grandchildren Olivia, Hayden and Ashton as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Verda passed away on January 21, 2025 in Wichita, KS. She is preceded in death by her husbands William Yaryan and Alva Stoskopf; step-child Carol DePino and 8 siblings.
Her funeral service will be at First United Methodist Church, El Dorado, 10:30 AM, January 30, 2025.
