Verl Lamar Kauffman went to meet Jesus at the Maples at Waterford Crossing at 4:00 pm on Saturday, Oct. 11th.
Verl was born in Millersburg, Indiana to Marvin and Susan (Bontrager) Kauffman on April 8, 1943. He was a 1961graduate of Millersburg High School.
He married Miriam Ann Yoder on April 19, 1964. He is survived by his wife, one son, Carlin D. (Lynnette) Kauffman, Brownsburg, Indiana, and a bonus grandson, Wyatt Kaufman, Goshen. He was preceded in death by both parents and three sisters, Twyla Haarer, Elnora Rhine, and Eunice Blodgett.
He was owner-operator of V.L. Kauffman Construction Co. from June, 1984 till he retired in 2012. Verl took pride in all his projects, whether it was a kitchen/bathroom remodel, room addition, new deck, roof job, etc. He enjoyed planning the project, seeing it to completion, and hearing that the customer was pleased with the finished project. He built his own home with very little help and was proud of that accomplishment. He was a member of the Goshen Police Dept. Reserves for 20 years. Verl enjoyed spending winters in Sarasota, Florida where he enjoyed bike riding until his health declined. He rode 70 miles on his 70th birthday and the following year, rode 71 miles on his 71st birthday. He loved the Lord and attended Grace Community Church, Goshen.
Verl’s body was donated to IU Medical School in the interest of anatomical medical education research, particularly for Merkel Cell cancer and Progressive Supranuclear Palsy.
