Verland Richards Obituary
Verland Paul Richards, 75, of Peoria, Illinois passed away on Thursday, June 29, 2023, at his residence. Verland was born to Verland H. and Dorothy (Yancick) Richards on June 27, 1948, in Canton, Illinois.
He married Marcia L. (Gillick) on May 09, 1970. He served in the United States Army and was a Vietnam veteran. Verland was a boil operator for 30 years with Archer Daniels Midland (ADM) until his retirement.
He was an avid fisherman. He was a member of the River City Casters and competed in many bass tournaments.
Verland is survived by his wife, Marcia of Peoria, Illinois; son, Corey Richards of Ocean Springs, Mississippi; and daughter, Megan (Peter) Kupper of Peoria, Illinois and grandson, Conner Redmond; sister, Sally (John) McElfresh of Bartonville, Illinois; and sister, Nancy Richards of Elmwood, Illinois.
He is preceded in death by his parents; son, Paul Richards; and sister, Vicki Richards Young.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, July 09, 2023, from 2 pm to 4 pm at Cumerford-Clary Funeral Home in Peoria, Illinois. Donations can be made to American Diabetes Association. Online condolences and tributes may be made at www.cumerfordclary.com.
