Verna Dell Foyt, 89, died on October 21, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on April 16, 1936, in Needville, Texas to Joseph Stanley Borowiak and Caroline Sebesta Borowiak. After completing the nursing program at Polly Ryan Memorial Hospital in 1968, Verna worked as a Licensed Vocational Nurse in the nursery as well as the labor & delivery departments for 45 years.
Verna was married to Harry Lee Foyt. She was a loyal and loving wife for fifty – five years, caring for him while he struggled with multiple health issues. She was a devoted and caring mother to her sons, Donald and Harry, and loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren dearly. After her husband Harry's death, Verna's greatest companion was her beloved and spoiled cat, Annie.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Harry L. Foyt, her parents, Joseph Stanley Borowiak and Caroline Sebesta Borowiak, and her siblings, Louis Borowiak, John Borowiak, Billy Borowiak, Willy Borowiak, Josie Borowiak Brau, Gertrude Borowiak Sturm and Agnes Borowiak Prasatik.
She is survived by her sons, Donald H. Foyt and Harry D. Foyt, both of Rosenberg, granddaughter Rebecca A. Berend and husband Matthew Berend of Austin, grandson Christopher J. Foyt of Houston, and great-granddaughters Julia Berend, Jillian Berend and Jenna Berend.
Visitation will be held from 02:00 PM until service time at 03:00 PM on Friday, October 24, 2025, at Davis Greenlawn Funeral Home with a burial to follow.
Expressions of remembrance and condolences are welcome and may be left for the family at www.davisgreenlawnfh.com.
