Verna Skeete Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Dello Russo Funeral Home - Medford on Dec. 9, 2025.
Verna E. Skeete, 55, passed away on Saturday, December 6th, at Winchester Hospital. A lifelong Medford resident, she was the daughter of Myra (Clarke) Skeete and the late Hugh Skeete. After graduating from Medford High School, Verna attended Lesley University in Cambridge, then went on to a career with non-profit organizations helping people find housing. Verna spent over 20 years at Pine Street Inn, working as a Program Planning Associate. Her work helped create nearly 1,000 affordable housing units for people experiencing homelessness.

Verna worked hard all her life. She was an avid reader and a life-long learner, continuing to pursue education after finishing her formal schooling. Verna loved photography, music, shopping, and spending time with friends. Most of all, she had a deep love for her parents, to whom she was devoted, and her happiest times were spent gardening with them.

Visiting hours will be held on Saturday, December 20th, from 9 to 11 AM in the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, followed by a memorial service conducted in Grace Episcopal Church, 160 High St., Medford at 11:30 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent in Verna's name to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Eastern Massachusetts, online at: www.emassbigs.org

Yesterday

I worked with Verna many years ago and she was one of those uplifting, warm, genuine and loving people that you just never forget. Verna is gone far too soon but her spirit remains as a powerful memory. My deep condolences to her mother and all those who loved her.
