Verne did the majority of the wiring for our solar system on the Loup Loup in Okanogan, Washington and after a long hot day he and I spent several evenings by Sweat Creek, sipping beer and telling stories. I always enjoyed his intellect and seeing how his mind worked. One day he showed up to work with a beautiful orange tabby kitty that I named Copper, who is still alive and happy 14 years later. To a brilliant, fascinating and kind man. We will see you by and by, dear Verne.

I had known Verne from 2009-2013, and found him to be one of the most gracious, intelligent, capable, and kind people that I have met. He was always there to lend a hand, and especially happy to engage in a deep conversation about politics, social justice, and any number of topics that he had great knowledge and insight into. I enjoyed our chats and the time we spent together on Orcas Island with my and his mutual family. My kids found him to be fascinating in his eccentric and lively way, and he was very kind and loving to them. When I heard of his passing, I felt a loss that I did not expect, considering I hadn't seen or spoken to him in a few years. Take care Verne, you touched more lives than you realize and you are missed by many.
