Vernell K. (Sorenson) Wicks

Vernell K. (Sorenson) Wicks, former Great Falls, MT resident, passed away November 11, 2025 in Chandler, AZ.

Vernell was born on March 23, 1947 in Jamestown, ND, daughter of Doanld and June (Larson) Sorenson. Vernell attended school and graduated from Jamestown H.S. (1965). Vernell attended and graduated from Valley City State University, Valley City, ND (1968), with an Elementary Education degree.

Vernell began her career as an Elementary teacher (1968) in Mandan, ND, North Carolina and Great Falls, MT.

Vernell met and married William (Bill) Wicks in Jamestown, ND August 14, 1971. Vernell and Bill began their life journey in Great Falls, MT (1971) and on to Smithfield, NC before settling back in Great Falls (1974).

Vernell became a stay-at-home mom, as their first daughter, Kristie Dawn was born in 1976. A second daughter, Julie Kay was born in 1979, but sadly passed away in 1982, following a liver transplant. Kristie (43) sadly passed away in 2020.

Vernell and Bill retired in 1997 and moved to Arizona and have lived there since.

Vernell leaves behind her husband, Bill, granddaughters Taylor and Kinsey, as well as nieces and nephews.

Vernel was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Eugene, sister, Donene, and daughters, Julie and Kristie.
