Sandra Caldwell Hyde, 86, of Concord, NC, died on September 11, 2023.

She was born on February 9, 1937 in Hickory, NC to Kathleen Newton Caldwell and Lester Richard Caldwell. Sandy graduated from A.L. Brown High School in Kannapolis, NC before attending UNC Greensboro and then graduating with a degree in Business Administration from UNC Chapel Hill. She had a long career as a social worker, working in both NC and SC.

Sandy loved and was loved by her family. She was married for 65 years to her beloved husband and soulmate, and together they welcomed both her mother-in-law and then her parents into their multi-generational home, caring for them in their later years. She treasured her relationship with her parents and brother, adored her daughters and grandchildren, and delighted in the many trips taken with her family. Sandy had a special relationship with her cousin Glenda Schenck, who was also her college roommate. She cherished her aunts Larue Huffman, Margaret Shumate and Betty Hudson, who along with her mother and uncles John and Harold Newton formed solid anchors in a big, loving family.

Sandy was preceded in death by her parents Kathleen Newton Caldwell and Lester Richard Caldwell. She is survived by her husband, Virgil Eugene (Gene) Hyde; daughters Kathleen Armstrong and Elizabeth Prichard; grandchildren Matthew Armstrong (Erin), David Prichard, Grace Prichard and Rachel Armstrong; and brother Richard Newton Caldwell; along with her Aunt Betty Hudson, nephews and nieces, and many cousins in her extended family.

An end of life celebration will be scheduled at a later date once all her loved ones are able to gather. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Alzheimer's Association.
