Vernice Broadway Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Reed's Chapel Scotts Hill on Dec. 2, 2025.
Vernice Broadway was born August 11, 1946 to the union of the late Ernel and Nannie Haggard Broadway. He was united in marriage to the former Charlotte Pratt on September 25, 1970. Mrs. Broadway preceded him in death on March 12, 2011. Mr. Broadway was strong in his faith and was proud to serve as a deacon at Scotts Hill Baptist Church. With his faith being the cornerstone of his life, he loved to attend gospel singings and in time past had sang in a gospel quartet. He loved the Scotts Hill community and consistently poured himself into the community. He served as the fire chief at Scotts Hill with great pride for 30 plus years. Many will remember seeing him in the NAPA store at Scotts Hill as he owned and operated it for a number of years. His greatest pride in this life was his family. He loved to spend time with his daughter and grandchildren, supporting them in anything they were doing. Mr. Broadway departed this life on Sunday, November 30, 2025 making his stay in this life some 79 years, 3 months, and 19 days.

Those left to cherish his memory include his daughter, Sonya Montgomery and husband Jonathan; two grandchildren, Brady and Belle Montgomery; and one brother, Larry Broadway.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by 5 brothers, Mack, Cloys, Loys, Jerry and Kenneth.

Visitation with the Broadway family will be on Wednesday, December 3, 2025 from 3:00 PM -9:00 PM and again on Thursday, December 4, 2025 from 10:00 AM until service time at 2:00 PM all at Reed's Chapel in Scotts Hill.

Funeral services will begin at 2:00 PM on Thursday, December 4, 2025 at Reeds Chapel in Scotts Hill with Denny Broadway and Tommy Crocker officiating. Burial will follow in the Pafford's Scotts Hill Cemetery.
