Vernon Oliver Durham Jr., “Buzz”, 86, of Baltimore, passed away at his home on October 16, 2024. He was born in Baltimore to the late Emerald Lowry and Vernon Oliver Durham Sr. He served in the Army, as a paratrooper, from 1956-1959. He went on to work for the Port of Baltimore as a longshoreman with ILA 333, retiring after 30+ years of service. He was a member of Second Maryland Company A Reenactors. He was an avid collector of Civil War memorabilia and enjoyed Civil War reenactments with his son. In his earlier years, he also enjoyed horse riding, playing baseball and football. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Eric Durham, and his siblings, Gary, Dennis, Emerald and Janet.
Buzz is survived by his devoted wife of 62 years, Sharon Marie Durham; loving son, Curt Durham; beloved daughter-in-law, Lisa Durham; and his cherished grandchildren, Breanna, Ashlee and Ricky Durham. He will also be missed by his nephew Larry John Conelius, his wife, Monique, and their daughter, Laura.
The family will receive visitors at Singleton Funeral & Cremation Services, P.A., 1 2nd Ave. SW (at Crain Hwy) on Saturday, Nov. 2nd, from 10 – 11 AM. A memorial service will immediately follow at 11 AM in the funeral home chapel.
