Vernon L. Maynard passed away on March 9, 2025 at his home in Timber Pines. He was the widow of Geraldine Ann Maynard. They were happily married for 48 years.
Born in Kiahsville, WV, he was the son of Mosser Bently Maynard and Charlie Maynard. He was a graduate of Wayne High School in Wayne, WV. He was employed by Huntington Alloy, later to be called Special Metals Corp in Huntington, WV. He spent four years in the Marine Corps as a Sharpshooter Instructor.
He resided in Timber Pines and enjoyed all of the amenities. He loved to workout in the gym and play golf, tennis, and basketball. The neighbors all say they would see him jogging every day for miles in the community no matter what the weather was like. He loved all of his neighbors at Timber Pines.
He is survived by his daughter, Melissa Riggins; five grandchildren: Christopher Stephen Yates, Olivia Yates, Josiah Avila, Sarah Maynard, and Joshua Maynard; and four great-grandchildren: Jake Thomas, Dani Ruth Thomas, Ryker Yates, and Maverick Yates. He is predeceased by his son, Darrell Maynard who passed away in August of 2020.
A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, April 24, 2025 at 2:00 PM at Florida National Cemetery, 6502 SW 102nd Ave, Bushnell, FL 33513.
