Veronica M. Caturia, age 92 of Arkansaw, died Tuesday April 2 at Dove West Health Care Center in Eau Claire with her family by her side.
Veronica was born on January 4, 1932 at home in the Town of Lima, rural Durand to Albert C. and Mary L. (Bauer) Bauer. She grew up on the family farm and attended Sacred Heart School in Lima. Veronica married John H. Caturia on June 9, 1952 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Lima. After marriage, they bought a farm in the Town of Waterville where they farmed and raised their family. Veronica and John farmed until 1997 when they retired and moved off the farm.
Veronica was an active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and St. Ann's Altar Society. For 75 years, Veronica was involved with Catholic Financial Life Insurance company and treasured her 50 year anniversary rosary.
Veronica loved her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed spending time with them playing cards and board games and attending their sports and school events. Veronica loved cooking and baking for her family, friends and any visitors that came to her home. She also enjoyed traveling with John and their children.
Veronica is survived by her children, Mary (Jim) Joslin of Marshfield, Tom (Julie) of Prescott, Dave of Eau Claire, Dan (Sue) of Arkansaw, Carol (Antonio) Marin of Woodbury, MN and Mark of Pepin; 11 grandchildren; six great grandchildren; one sister, Karen Rubesch of Eau Claire; brother-in-law, Harvey Radle; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, John; infant daughter Frances; daughter-in-law, Elaine Caturia; two brothers, Benedict and Jerome Bauer; and three sisters, Blanche Radle, Rita Bauer and Joan Sweeney.
The family appreciates the loving care and friendships during her time at Orchard Hill and Dove-West.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 9 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Arkansaw with Rev. Junabe V. Villapaz officiating. Burial will be in the Arkansaw French Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church on Tuesday. A luncheon will be held immediately after the services at Molly's on Main in Plum City.
Memorials are preferred in Veronica's name to the Holy Rosary Catholic School in Lima or to the Dove-West Recreation Department in Eau Claire.
