Veronica Johnson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by House of Law, Inc. Funeral Home and Cremation Services - Penn Hills on Aug. 14, 2024.
Veronica Lillion Johnson, known to family and friends as 'Ronnie' was born in Pittsburgh, PA on February 24, 1975. She was the firstborn of three from the union of the late Sandra Denise Yates (Yanas) and Frederick Molten Johnson, who both passed away in 2022.
Ronnie attended Belmar Elementary School, Rogers Middle School (School for the Performing Arts), and Taylor Allderdice High School. After the birth of her eldest daughter, Avanti, she pursued and secured her GED. She attended Pittsburgh Beauty Academy and frequently put her skills to work with family and friends, including her brothers who often found themselves as experimental test cases. She spent several years working as an X-ray technician for UPMC Montefiore and Presbyterian hospitals before giving herself fully to raising five beautiful children.
Ronnie found a faithful friend, partner and true love in the person she desired to spend the rest of her life with, Alvin 'Boonie' Nix. Their love for each other was undeniable and they were inseparable. They were engaged and shared hopes of a bright future.
Ronnie was the "People's Champion". She loved all people and most of her life was spent fighting for family and friends. When she was not on the battlefield she enjoyed hosting family and friends at her home over a meal. More often than not, she was the life of the party and a featured attraction wherever she showed up. Her greatest passion, prize, and now legacy were her children. Furthermore, she was a proud grandma of her grandbaby Aubrey a.ka. 'Nonnie'. She relished every Wednesday, spending time with Nonnie for story time and jumping at Sky Zone.
Ronnie was preceded in death by her mother Sandra Denise Yates, father Frederick Molten Johnson, step-father Edward Ben Yates Jr., and sister India Christian. She leaves to cherish her memory and mourn her passing, Fiance: Alvin Nix; Aunts: Jivani Turner(Great); Nadine Levitt; Charlene Couch; Annette Adams; Helen Owens; Brothers: William Johnson, David Johnson, Allen Johnson; Sisters: Nicole Calloway; Michelle Smith; Clara Johnson; Tenill Thomas; Maria Harbison; Children: Avanti Javanna Johnson-Hall; Pryncess Omari Jave Johnson-Payne; Azure Johnson-Payne; Tayla Arione Johnson-Payne; C'iress Denise Johnson; Grand Children: Aubrey Amari Denise Thompson; Best Friend: Lisa McBride; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Oh Ronnie! We´ve been friends since Rogers. I haven´t seen you post in a few days nor comment on my posts, and I learn today of your passing. My heart is broken... I know that you are now resting with your mom and dad.

I will cherish all of the memories we´ve shared throughout the years and most certainly will keep your children lifted in prayer.
