Veronica´s poem After A While has been an inspiration for women worldwide. I first came upon it in the 90´s and it still inspires me today. I in fact sent it to a friend today who is going through a rough patch. Her legacy will live on!

I am only now learning of Ronnie's passing - it makes me very sad...I have a copy of her poem AFTER A WHILE posted in a conspicuous place and have had friends ask for copies...it truly is a masterpiece...

Ronnie and I would hang out at her Village View apartment on E. 6th since I had a small studio at the Sequoia Condominium. Ronnie had a large-screen TV and a comfortable couch. She also had a wonderful selection of music on her little record player which would make everyone who visited your apartment feel warm and welcomed.
I will always remember your short stories and poems...especially your most beautiful and moving poem "After A While." We'd laugh and play board and card games.
I will miss you all the rest of my life. I hope to see you in the afterlife where we can eat roast chicken, cannolis, and pizza. Even though we are separated now, I will always cherish my memories of how we'd have fun and laugh together.
I will always love you, my dearest Veronica Ann.
Your loving friend,

I will never forget the first time I met Ronnie. She was moving to Utica to go to school and needed to find a place to live. She and her Mom were driving around looking for an apartment and saw a bunch of college kids sitting on a porch and took a chance and stopped to asked if there was a room to rent. That was the beginning of a beautiful friendship. I remember when she wrote her famous poem after the heartbreak of her first love.
The last time I met up with Ronnie was in the city and we got together to reminiscent. We shared old memories and caught up on the present. We laughed a lot. It was a wonderful moment. I will miss her dearly. She was sweet, kind hearted, funny and just full of life.
