Verrel Wise Obituary

Verrel "Pa" Jessie Wise was born on May 5,1944. On February 19, 2025 at the age of 80 years he awoke in the arms of his Lord & savior surrounded by his wife, children, & grandchildren holding his hands. Pa was met at heavens gates by his beloved parents, Jessie & Jeanette Wise & many other friends & family waiting to be united with their friend & loved one. Pa lived a beautiful life. One where he shared 63 years of marriage with his sweetheart and the love of his life Joyce Ann Tidmore Wise. Pa and Joy have 2 daughters & 1 son, Teresa & (Chad)Henson, Emily & (Billy) Wakefield, Russell & (Christi) Wise along with 8 grandchildren & 6 great grandchildren. He was a loving brother to his sister, Jimmie Tice & brother, Louis Wise and A special Uncle to many nieces and nephews. Throughout life, Pa just loved, he was the epitome of love. He was not only a father & grandfather to his own he was a father & grandfather to many. Who he was to his family & to a multitude of others is our Pa. He is our Pa because he loved fiercely & unapologetically. He had a God given gift that he made you feel loved, honored & made you believe that you were the most important person in his world & the whole world. Pa not only served his family & led a life that we can only aspire to live. He also served & honored his community, Ashville AL. Pa graduated from Ashville High School in 1962 where he was also crowned Mr. AHS & has either played, attended, or took stats for the AHS football team for over 650 games. He was the biggest fan & supporter of all Ashville athletics. If you were to ask anyone who had the privilege of meeting this man though, you would know he was a bigger fan of all the athletes & fans who participated in these sporting events. From the star player to the one who wasn't quite ready, he was there telling them encouraging words, telling them he loved them, speaking life into them, showing them strength & integrity. Even through loss he celebrated each & every person as they just won the Super Bowl. We were all the same in Pas eyes.. & that is the best at whatever you decide to do. Pa looked at your heart & celebrated who you are as a person. To hear the impact he made on all the men & women throughout many generations his love for them is why he was there. He loved the sport but he loved the people who make the game what it is more. He will forever be Ashville's biggest fan. He is known community wide as Pa because he is all of our Pa. He was such a pillar in Ashville Athletics & through the years to come there will never be another Pa. His first love & most important relationship was with his Lord & Savior Jesus Christ. He had this much love to give every single person he met because he gave his love & life to his one true Lord. He loved his family, friends, hunting, sports & many more things but he always kept God first. When you think of a man after God's own heart you just need to think of Pa. He kept God in the center of his universe & not only talked about the love of God but showed it in every single thing he did or said. He touched so many lives by following the great commission. He never wavered nor gave up on the hard days, he showed integrity, strength & grace in all aspects of his life. A true man of God who left a beautiful legacy. A legacy that anyone should be proud of if it's even half of what this man left behind. I know he is in heaven with the angel choir singing his praises forever more just waiting for his friends & loved ones to join him in eternity. I know if you live like Pa & follow in his footsteps you will meet him again at heavens gates. Until we see you again Pa. You will be missed, honored & never forgotten. The legacy he left behind will live on forever. Service in honoring the life of Verrel Jessie Wise will be held at Bethany Baptist Church located in Ashville (Shoal Creek) AL.
