Verta Bennett Obituary
Verta Grace Howell Bennett, born January 27, 1933, grew up in East Atlanta, a 53 year resident of Conyers, GA, passed away in Newnan, GA on January 3, 2026, at the age of 92.
She lived and worked in Atlanta after high school at Avon's headquarters and then J.H. Tull in accounts receivable after which she became a full-time mom. She was preceded in death by her husband, John E. Bennett; parents, Cleo McWhorter Howell and Jewell H. Howell; and many family members.
She was a member of Conyers Church of God since 1999 and served weekly in the church office for over two decades. She dearly loved Jesus, her pastors and her church family.
She is survived by her son, Michael L. Harrington, of Franklin, GA; daughter, Sharon H. Howard (Mike) of Newnan, GA; cousin, Allen Barber; nephews, Shane (Kim) Howell, Damon Howell; and great-nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 11 AM -12 PM on Thursday, January 8, 2026, with services following in the chapel at Scot Ward Funeral Services, 699 American Legion Rd., Conyers, GA 30012.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Conyers Church of God.

I was Verta's pastor from December 2000 until her passing. She was a blessing to our church and to my wife and me. She will be missed. My prayers are with Sharon (and Mike) and Michael. (Pastor Mark Hardgrove)
