Vesta May (Stutler) Warthman, passed away March 5, 2025
Vesta was born October 30, 1942 to Jack D. Stutler and Evelyn A. (Freed) Stutler of Parkersburg, West Virginia. Vesta leaves her dearest sons (and spouses) Scott A. (Julie) Warthman of Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, and Shawn A. (Carrie) Warthman of Avon Lake, Ohio. Vesta was blessed with sisters (and spouses) Patricia (Jerry) Sinkler, Rebecca (Lawrence Jr.) Curtis and Valda (John) Colbart. Vesta was also blessed to have her sister-in-law Vicky (Michael) Schlosser of Albany, Ohio. Vesta was Grandmother to four grandchildren, Trevor, Spencer, Carter, & Amber Warthman. Vesta also leaves behind dear friends including John and Maxine Dupre, Treva Brewer, her friends in the teaching community and many friends from St. Luke’s United Methodist Church, First Presbyterian Church and the Fairborn community. Vesta’s family takes great comfort knowing that she is now reunited with her beloved husband of 56 years, Steven as well as her Mother and Father, Jack and Evelyn Stutler.
Vesta graduated from the University of Rio Grande in 1964 with a Bachelors of Arts Degree in Education, and Master’s Degree in Education from Ohio University in 1967.
Vesta dedicated her life to serving the youth of the Fairborn community as a teacher. She began teaching in Fairborn Schools in 1964 and taught in various schools and grade levels for the next 35 years. She touched the lives of thousands of youngsters, who brought joy to her life throughout her career.
Vesta’s hobbies included cooking for her family, gardening flowers (especially roses), and playing the piano where she had a rare talent of being able to play any song just by hearing it. She was a member of the Fairborn Methodist Church, and affiliated with the First Presbyterian Church.
A visitation will be held on Thursday March 13, 2025 from 12:00 until 1:00 P.M. at the Belton-Stroup Funeral Home, 422 E. Dayton-Yellow Springs Rd., Fairborn. Service will start at 1:00 P.M., Pastor H. Wesley Barnhill officiating. Burial will take place at Byron Cemetery following the service.
