Veta Welsh, 80, of Zanesville, passed peacefully, at 4:05 P.M. on Monday, April 28, 2025, at Willow Haven Healthcare and Rehabilitation, surrounded by her family. She was born December 8, 1944, in Zanesville, a daughter of the late Charles and Kathryn (Brock) Bunker. She was known for her sharp wit and humor, she was the master of “dad jokes”. She had an ornery streak that brought laughter to those around her and she had a heart full of pride for her children and grandchildren. A devoted Christian, her faith guided her life. Her warmth and humor made her a favorite among the staff at her nursing home, who also came to love her dearly.
She is survived by her son, JP (Anna) Zin; two daughters, Winona (Charles) Shepard and Bobbie (JC) Stackhouse; a brother, Romney R. (Bev) Bunker, two sisters, Yvonne C. Bunker-Grear and Andrea S. Bunker-Finan; seven grandchildren, Kathryn (Jason) Jones, James (Kristin) Agar, Jared (Courtney) Englehart, Taryn (Dustin) Hague, Matt (Hayley) Oertel, Charles (Tiffany) Kuhn, Abbey (Dustin) Weinstock, Melony (Matt) Honabarger, Matthew (Penny) Shepard, Josh Stackhouse, Jaycee (Cole) Cameron; and many great and great-great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband of thirty-two years, Stephen D. Welsh who passed on April 6, 2015; two brothers, Duane L. Bunker and Perry A. Bunker; and one brother-in-law, Mike Finan.
Friends and family may call from 3:00-6:00 P.M. on Sunday, May 4, 2025, at the BOLIN-DIERKES FUNERAL HOME, 1271 BLUE AVENUE, ZANESVILLE where funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, May 5, 2025, with Celebrant Jeff Hardwick officiating. She will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband, Stephen, at Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery.
