We are heartbroken to announce the loss of Vickey Ann Wentland, 79, on March 18, 2025.
Vickey was born to Vernon and Helen Guritz in San Francisco, California on May 3, 1945. She was raised in Indiana and graduated from Hobart High School in 1963.
She is survived by her husband, John Reuter; three children, Elaine, Cheryl and Greg(life partner Sarah); son in law, Charles Davis; two grandchildren, Chet and Valerie, and two sisters, Linda (George) Fulghum and Diana Carniello. She leaves behind many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.
She was a single mother for many years. She worked and attended night school to further her education and obtain degrees from both Gateway Technical Institute and Carthage College. She worked as a credit manager for Jockey International for 15 years.
Vickey enjoyed cruises and traveling with family. She especially loved visiting Italy, Greece, Alaska, Hawaii and the Caribbean Islands. She also loved taking photographs, attending art exhibits and live shows and watching shows on TV. Some of her favorite performances include Andrea Bocelli, Mamma Mia, and Lord of the Dance. She enjoyed museums and exhibits and especially loved Art in Bloom and the Van Gogh Experience. She especially enjoyed taking her grandson to see the Mesmerica light show. She enjoyed watching 1923, Bridgerton and many other Netflix shows, including Christmas movies which she recently enjoyed with her daughter.
She had a green thumb and took pride in the plants and flowers she cultivated in her beautiful wooded yard in Wheatland, Wisconsin where she lived with her husband John for more than 30 years. She loved watching birds and other wildlife in her yard and cared for many pets over the years, including three adorable miniature dachshunds. She spent countless hours cooking, shopping and dining with her family at their favorite restaurants. She loved to spend time with her family and enjoyed playing pinochle, planning trips, attending events and just chatting by the fireplace. She loved a good laugh and shared many jokes over the years.
She was a whiz in the kitchen and on every holiday and birthday, made special meals to ensure that her loved ones felt special and important.
Vickey was funny, practical, wise, caring and intelligent beyond words. She also had a heart of gold. Always willing to lend a helping hand or kind ear to others, she shared her time and resources freely. She was courageous throughout her health battles, generous to those less fortunate and a true friend to so many. She was a shining light to those around her.
She adored her grandson Chet and the feeling was mutual. She spent as much time with him as she possibly could and worked hard to help guide him. She was proud of his accomplishments and attended many school and sporting events to cheer him on. They spent many hours planting flowers in the yard and enjoying campfires together. They were always laughing and planning fun surprises for others. They shared a rare and special bond; their time together brought her abundant light and joy, especially during her recent illness.
She will live forever in our hearts, and we are so grateful for the beautiful memories she helped us create.
Services will be private. In lieu of memorials, donations in her honor can be made to the
