Vicki Cooper Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home on Dec. 28, 2025.
Vicki Jane Cooper (Baker), age 73, of Fayetteville, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on December 26, 2025. A woman of remarkable strength, warmth, and perseverance, Vicki leaves behind a legacy of dedicated service and a family who adored her.

A Life of Service and Legacy

Born on February 6, 1952, Vicki grew up in DeKalb, Illinois. It was there that she graduated high school and met the love of her life, Rod Cooper. Together, they shared a beautiful marriage of 55 years, built on a foundation of mutual devotion and shared adventures.

Vicki was a proud civil servant, dedicating nearly 30 years to the U.S. Military Government. She spent the pinnacle of her career at the Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC), a key component of the U.S. Special Operations Command (USSOCOM). After decades of supporting the nation's military in resource management, she retired in 2020.

Passions and Community

Vicki was a woman of many talents and an even bigger heart. She was a mainstay in the Fayetteville Sewing Guild and an avid quilter, often pouring her love into every stitch. When she wasn't at her sewing machine, she could be found solving puzzles, organizing Bunco nights, or hosting events at her home.

She was an exceptional cook who delighted in bringing people together over a meal and giving back to her community. Vicki's love for her community and her desire to serve that community led her into youth ministry through her church. Joining her husband, she assisted in directing a local youth group participating in numerous local outreach programs for over 20 years.

Her spirit was brightest during the holidays; she loved decorating her home, especially for Christmas, creating a magical environment for those she loved.

Family

Vicki's greatest joy came from taking care of her family. She is survived by her devoted husband, Rod Cooper; her son, Bradley Cooper; her brothers, Brian Baker and Bruce Baker; and her cherished grandchildren, Keenan and Aliyah Johnson. She also leaves behind her faithful dog, Sadie.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Vernon and Jan Baker, and her beloved son, Chad Cooper.

Celebration of Life

A Celebration of Life Service will be held to honor Vicki's memory on Friday, January 2, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home, 545 Ramsey St., Fayetteville, NC 28301

I miss playing handbells and every Christmas hearing them I think of you Mrs.Vicki. You always made me laugh and you and Rod will ALWAYS have a special place in my heart/memories. I know Billy is waiting up there arms open and that big grin of his.

Praying for the whole family. Memories that I have of Vicki: being invited to Bunco night- HAND BELLS- opening her house up for the youth/family to enjoy the pool and fellowship of each other. Love to your family.
