Gertz, Vicki Leigh, age 77, left her family and close friends to mourn her passing on Friday, June 13, 2025.
Vicki, the oldest of seven children, was born to Harold and Arlene (Gale) Gertz on October 17, 1947, and she cherished her family deeply. She passionately researched her heritage through genealogy, was a proud member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, and was a loving big sister, aunt, great-aunt, and cousin.
Vicki loved everything about Minnesota - especially her favorite sports teams: the Minnesota Twins, the Minnesota Vikings, and the Minnesota Timberwolves. She also adored the State Fair, Prince, and other Minnesota celebrities. She eagerly explored the state, making many trips to the Wabasha Eagle Center, where she spoke about the eagles as if they were family members.
It was often said that Vicki should have been born in the time of Jane Austen - she would have been her best friend. Vicki longed to return to England one day, specifically to see it through the eyes of Jane Austen and William Shakespeare. We can imagine how many questions she is asking them now.
Vicki's collections gave her great joy with Hallmark ornaments, Disney, Dept 56 Dicken's Village, and all-holiday décor among her favorites. She delighted in spoiling her family at Christmas, starting her shopping on December 26, and thoughtfully agonized over finding the perfect gift each person would truly love.
Vicki is preceded in death by her parents; her beloved sister, Cheryl; brothers-in-law, Roger and Stephen; and many close cousins. She is lovingly remembered by her brothers Greg (Alice) Gertz and Bill (Marisa) Gertz; her sisters Jackie Jensen, Kathy (Tim) Wise, and Laura (Scott) Wagner; along with her adored nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, June 26, at 11:00 a.m. at White Funeral Home in Burnsville. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. Join the family and share yourmemories of Vicki at the luncheon immediately following. If you wish, you may also join the family later that afternoon as she is laid to rest near her grandparents at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery in Minneapolis.
