Vicki (Andrews) Korporal, age 79, passed away early Wednesday morning, December 22, 2021, at Visiting Nurse Hospice Home in Fort Wayne. She was born on July 27, 1942, to Max and Rosella (Harmon) Andrews. She married Darroll Korporal on October 8, 1960, and they raised their three children on a farm east of Marion. They were married for 23 years before he preceded her in death on August 18, 1984. Vicki spent the last 30 years living in Swayzee, and she adored all her neighbors. She was a member of the Swayzee Library Board until she was forced to resign due to declining health.
Vicki was employed with the VA Northern Indiana Health Care System in Marion for over 20 years before retiring in 1994. Most of her career was spent in Escort Services. She was a certified EMT and greatly enjoyed her job. She received many awards for her efforts, including a Certificate of Commendation from the Marine Corps for her outstanding work with veterans. Vicki attended Liberty Baptist Church in Sweetser, and she loved her church family, especially the ladies in her Sunday School class. She continued to remain active in her church and, when she could no longer attend in person, she faithfully watched the service on her computer each Sunday morning. Her faith in the Lord was strong.
Surviving are her three children, Maria (Rich) Adams of Marion, Les (Cory) Korporal of Marion, and Andy (Stephanie) Korporal of Van Buren; brother, Rod (Niecy) Andrews of Van Buren; sister, Deena (Robert) Finney of Marion; son-in-law, Kenny Hensley of Gas City; five grandchildren, Michael (Jessica) Glaser of Jonesboro, Kayla Thomas of Gas City, Cale Korporal of Marion, Derek (Stacy) Ralston of Warren, and Drew (Michelle) Korporal of Warren; and nine great-grandchildren.
