Vicki Mize Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Vicki Renee Mize on 5 December, 2023. Vicki is survived by her loving husband of nearly 40 years, Gary Mize, her five children (Brandon Mize, Daniel Mize, Kenneth Mize, Stephanie Drawyer, and Staci Mize Leve), her grandchildren (Thatcher Mize, Brooklyn Mize, Griffin Drawyer, Jeremiah Mize, and Bristol Mize), her father Hal Diegel, and her sister Sandi Bemis.

Vicki survived and thrived through forty years of Multiple Sclerosis. Vicki, though, consistently stated - and lived - that “I may have MS but it certainly doesn’t have me.” Through her physical ailments, Vicki excelled as a mother and wife, raising her five children with her caring husband, never missing a single athletic event or school play and always, without fail, being the first thing her children saw when they came home each day. Always the perfect picture of love, support, and sacrifice, no one recalls Vicki ever complaining of her disability but rather living each and every day to her fullest capacity - always thinking of and serving others.

Vicki, a woman of immense faith, served dutifully and with great excitement in each of her wards within the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in a variety of callings. Her most dear callings were ones which involved music or teaching children - both things which consistently brought her so much joy and fulfillment.

Vicki was always known to be singing from the time she was a young woman well into adulthood, even receiving a full scholarship to the University of Michigan near her hometown - though she chose with immense pride to attend Brigham Young University. Whether in theatre, choir, church, or - her favorite - karaoke, Vicki was always singing. She loved to sing country music and even participated in the singing of the National Anthem at a Rockies game with the Colorado Mormon Chorale, of which she was a long time member. Her beautiful voice is something her family will always treasure and will be greatly missed by so many.

Services in honor of Vicki Mize will be held Friday, 15 December, 2023 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (17910 French Creek Avenue, Parker CO, 80134) with a viewing from 10-11 am, a service from 11-12 pm, and immediately followed by an open house.
