A Memorial Service for Vickie Bratton of Morris, MN, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 11, 2025 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Cyrus with Pastor Chris Richards officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Monday, February 10, 2025 at Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris and will continue at church on Tuesday one hour prior to the service.

Vickie Rae Valnes was born to Raymond and Vivian Valnes on October 14, 1953, in Morris, Minnesota. She graduated from Hancock High School, Class of 1971. After high school, Vickie began working at Fingerhut in Benson. 

On July 7, 1973, she married Daniel Bratton and the couple had two children, Jason and Jodie, and later divorced. In 2001, she moved to Morris.

Vickie worked various jobs around the area including, Varnums, the café in Cyrus, drove a Medivan, was a first responder in Cyrus, worked part-time at the University and retired from the South Cenex Store as an assistant manager when her health declined.

Vickie attended Trinity Lutheran Church in Cyrus and Faith Lutheran Church in Morris. She enjoyed playing bingo, bowling, sudoku puzzles, watching her grandchildren play hockey and baseball and spending time with her family.

Being diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis at age 30, Vickie became well acquainted with many doctors in the medical field. Eventually, it forced her into early retirement. She was a courageous fighter through it all.

Vickie Bratton died Friday, January 31, 2025, at Sanford Medical Center in Fargo, ND. She was 71 years old. 

Vickie is survived by her significant other, Robert “Bob” Towner of Morris; children, Jason Bratton (Ali Lorensen) of Morris and Jodie Bratton of Morris; grandchildren, Nathanial Bratton, AJ Santibanez, Rae Bratton and Benjamon Bratton; siblings, Richard (Caroline) Valnes of Eugene, OR, Betty Anderson (Rod Johnson) of Glenwood and Robert (Barbara) Valnes of Morris and a host of other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Vivian; siblings, Earl “Bud” Valnes and Harvey Valnes and brother-in-law, John Anderson.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred and will be directed to Vickie’s favorite charities.
