Vickie Lee Foster, 72, passed away peacefully at her home in Rossville, Kansas, on July 6, 2025. She was born on November 4, 1952, in North Platte, Nebraska, and later moved to Kansas with her parents.
Vickie graduated from Rossville High School in Rossville, Kansas, in 1971. She married Mark Zlatnik on May 10, 1971, and together they had four children. On June 12, 1981, she married Fred Foster, who had two sons from a previous marriage. Together, Vickie and Fred had one daughter, bringing their blended family to seven children. She spent much of her life as a homemaker, raising her children, attending their school activities, and tending to her busy household. Vickie was known for her strong will, quick wit, and commitment to her family. She and Fred shared many years together in Delia, Kansas, until his passing.
Vickie loved watching sports and was a huge fan of both Nebraska and KU. Whether attending games or watching from home, she enjoyed keeping up with her grandchildren's sports. She loved playing cards and dominoes with family and friends, even when her kids were cheating. Like her mother, Vickie found joy in cooking and baking, always eager to share a meal or a homemade
treat with others. Vickie will be remembered by her family and friends for her straightforward nature, her loyalty, and the role she played in the lives of those closest to her.
She is survived by her children: Julie (Gary) Spring, Sheila (Bobby) Coons, Melissa (Kelly) Smith, Jennifer (Blaine) Hensley, Scott (Isabelle) Zlatnik, Luke (Jodi) Foster, and Matt (Misty) Foster. She also leaves behind her grandchildren: Zach (Bryce), Adam, Kai, Logan, Emma, Braiden, Makenna, Laiken, Greyson, Kaylyn, Kassi (Justin), Gentry, Bayli (Jeremy), Jayden, Kellyn, Olivia and Sophia; great-grandchildren: Adalynn, Abigail, Brooks, and Rhodes. Vickie is also survived by her siblings, Jodi (Derek) Clark, Mark (Donna) Diehl, and her sister-in-law, Loli Diehl.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Foster; her parents, Kenny and Karen Diehl; and her brothers, Ricky and Keith Diehl.
A celebration of life will be held at Rossville United Methodist Church, 411 Pearl St, Rossville, KS, on Saturday, July 12th, from 11am-1pm. Lunch will be provided. Please wear your favorite sports gear to honor Vickie's love for the Nebraska Cornhuskers, Kansas Jayhawks and Kansas City Chiefs.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Rossville United Methodist Church - Food Pantry, 411 Pearl St, Rossville, KS 66533.
