Vickie L. (Drury) Gibbs was born December 4, 1952, in
Pontiac, Michigan. She was one of six children born to James and Jessie (East) Drury. Vickie grew up in
Salem, Missouri and graduated with the class of 1970 from Salem High School.
On August 1, 1970, Vickie was united in marriage to the love of her life, Ronald Eugene Gibbs. Together they shared fifty years of life and memories before his passing on December 20, 2020. Vickie and Ron were blessed with two children: Melissa and Brent.
Vickie started her working career as a bank teller in Salem at First National Bank for many years, she then worked for the City of O'Fallon in the finance department. Vickie retired as the secretary/bookkeeper at Dexter First Assembly of God. She was very detail-oriented in her work and always willing to lend a helping hand.
In her spare time, Vickie enjoyed bird watching, crafting, and shopping. She loved being home watching QVC. A loving mother and grandmother, her greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandson.
Vickie was a lady of faith and dedicated member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church,
Springfield, Missouri. In her younger years, she attended Dry Fork Baptist Church. Vickie faithfully served the Lord and supported Ron in his Deacon ministry.
Vickie entered eternal rest on July 15, 2023, in
Nixa, Missouri at the age of seventy years. Those left behind to treasure her memory are her loving daughter: Melissa Smith and husband Kevin of Nixa, MO; son: Brent Gibbs of Alabama; siblings: James Drury Jr. and wife Carleen of
Salem, MO, Kevin Drury and wife Beverly of
Salem, MO, Keith Drury and wife Freda of
Salem, MO, and Kim Hill and husband Freddie of Nixa, MO; sister-in-law: Marsha Drury of
Salem, MO; grandchildren: Austin Smith, Steven Smith, Jakob Burns, Sarah Smith, Christian Gibbs, and Chyann Gibbs; great-grandson: Elias; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends.
Preceding her in death, loving husband: Ronnie Gibbs; parents: James Sr. and Jessie Drury; and brother: Danny Drury.
Vickie was by all measures a great lady who was much loved and will be deeply missed by those who loved her most.
Graveside Services for Vickie L. (Drury) Gibbs were held Wednesday, July 19, 2023, at the Dry Fork Cemetery with Pastor Jeremy Muniz officiating. Serving as Pallbearers were Bud Drury, Kevin Drury, Keith Drury, Freddie Hill, Kevin Smith, and Austin Smith. Honorary Pallbearer was Jakob Burns. Arrangements were under the direction of Wilson Mortuary of
Salem, Missouri.
