Obituary published on Legacy.com by Wilson Mortuary - Viburnum on Jan. 12, 2026.
Darrell Wayne Pryor was born November 15, 1941, in Crawford County, Missouri, to Lorian and Velma (Payne) Pryor. He passed away January 10, 2026, in
Salem, Missouri, at the age of eighty-four years.
He attended Bixby Grade School and Valley of Caledonia High School. He was united in marriage to Betty Chandler on December 12, 1959, in Boss, Missouri, and three children were born to this union.
They moved to St. Louis where he worked at Angelica Uniform Company then at the Chrysler Assembly Plant. He didn't want to raise a family in the city so they bought a farm in Crawford County. He cleared the land and built a house on the property. He started working at Cominco American in 1968 and remained there until it shutdown.
He gave his life to Jesus Christ in his twenties and was a member of Boss Assembly of God and Lookout Assembly of God churches.
Darrell had many hobbies: hunting, fishing, genealogy, recycling, and working on the farm (especially during hay season). He loved to watch Westerns and the St. Louis Cardinals baseball games, but his favorite way to spend time was with family. He enjoyed singing and listening to music. He was an accomplished self-taught fiddle player and loved playing for the glory of the Lord. He never met a stranger and delighted in telling jokes and funny stories about his life.
Darrell was preceded in death by his parents, Lorian and Velma Pryor; son, Dennis Pryor; special granddaughter, Pam Brush; granddaughter, Jami Carmack; grandson, Mark Will, daughter-in-law, Tammy Pryor; father and mother-in-law, Howard and Faye Chandler; brothers and sisters-in-law, Donald Chandler (wife, Cathy), Doris Dunlap (husband, Edward), and Stanley Chandler; nephews: Chris Chandler and Marty Carl; and nieces: Nicole Pryor and Elayne Miner.
Those left to mourn the loss are his wife, Betty Pryor; son, Calvin Pryor (wife, Vicky); daughter, Cindy Pryor (fiancé, Joe); daughter-in-law, Debbie Pryor; sisters, Wanda Faulkner (husband, Roy) and Vera Western; brothers, Roger Pryor (wife, Barb) and Randy Pryor (wife, Danna); grandchildren, Amanda Jacks (husband, Kenny), Dereck Pryor (wife, Megan), Morgan Pryor (fiancé, Johnathon), Keragan Rivera (husband, Hunter), Kassidy Pryor, Karsyn Carmack, Taylor Carrick, Trenton Moore, and Kali Brush; nine great grandchildren with one on the way; several nieces and nephews, brothers and sisters-in-law, other relatives and friends.
Darrell was a hardworking Christian man of character and integrity, but he was ready to go home. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend.
