Vickie Luider, age 68, passed away peacefully on September 21, 2025, at 8:25 a.m., surrounded by her loving family.
Vickie was born and raised in Owosso, Michigan, where she graduated from Owosso High School. She later made her home in Beverly Hills, Florida, where she enjoyed the sunshine and the simple pleasures of life.
She worked for many years at the Citrus County Detention Facility as a correctional officer, where she was known for her strong work ethic, no-nonsense attitude, and dedication.
Vickie had a passion for gardening and loved spending time outdoors tending to her plants. She also had a knack for gambling, always enjoying the thrill of a good game and the laughter that came with it. Wherever she went, she always had a little dog by her side – her constant companion and sidekick, who brought her comfort and joy.
Vickie was the second oldest of eight siblings, and family was always at the heart of everything she did. She will be remembered for her warmth, her humor, and her ability to make everyone feel welcome.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Jacqueline Farley; her father, Donald Smalley; and her brother, Danny Smalley.
She is survived by her loving children: Trevor Luider (Kayla) and Tawny Luider; and her grandchildren, Miguel, Dan, Julian, Chloe, Madalyn, Dominic and Laci.
She is also survived by her siblings: Jody Smalley of Elsie, MI; Kelly Nelson of Owosso, MI; Terry Smalley of Florida; Laura Farley of Owosso, MI; and Randy Farley of Owosso, MI; along with her stepfather, Ray Farley, also of Owosso, MI.
Those who knew Vickie will remember her for her laughter, her strength, and her unwavering love for her family. She touched many lives and will be deeply missed, but her memory – and the image of her with her faithful little dog by her side – will live on in the hearts of all who loved her.
