Vickie Lyn Ostler

Vickie Lyn Moorefield Ostler, a beloved mother, wife, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully at home on June 8, 2025. Vickie was born on May 5, 1948, in Provo, Utah. She was the first child of Robert Sutton Moorefield and Wanda McMurray Moorefield (Skousen).
At the age of seven, Vickie lost her father in a car accident on July 1, 1955. In that accident, her mother was seriously injured and was hospitalized for a year. During that year, Vickie initially lived with relatives in Idaho. When the summer ended, Vickie and her siblings (John, Robyn, and Mark) moved back to their home in Bountiful, Utah. Even though members of the local ward came into the home to watch over the children, Vickie started taking on the role of caring for her younger siblings.
Once her mom recovered, Vickie and her three siblings moved to Arizona with their mom, who eventually met and married Clarence Fred Skousen. They blessed the family with one more child, Brad. Vickie spent the rest of her growing-up years in Chandler, Arizona, where she enjoyed an active social life and participated in various school organizations.
In the summer of 1966, she moved to Provo, Utah, to attend Brigham Young University (BYU). She loved her college experience and graduated in January of 1971 with a degree in elementary education. Upon graduating, she was hired at the BYU Press, where she eventually became the lead editor. While working at the press, she met her sweetheart, Michael, and they were married in the Salt Lake Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on September 20, 1974. Three months before their first son, Robert, was born, Vickie quit her job at the press to become a full-time mother. When her second son, Aaron, was born, she started to develop serious health challenges. Despite her declining health, she was able to have one more child, Patrick, six years later.
Over the 50 years that Vickie and Michael lived in Orem, Utah, they welcomed all into their home, no matter people's backgrounds or circumstances in life. Many relatives and friends even lived at Vickie and Michael's house through the years. Vickie's loving presence and sense of humor always made people feel welcome in their home.
Even though her health issues continued to get worse over the years, Vickie did not let these challenges get her down. She was a vibrant, fun person who genuinely cared about people and was a great example of love and kindness. She was always willing to listen to others without judgment, and people loved being around her. Her presence will be sorely missed by those she has left behind. She is survived by her husband, Michael; her three sons, Robert, Aaron, and Patrick; her daughter-in-law, Heidi; her two granddaughters, Samantha and Katelyn; and three of her siblings, John Robert Moorefield, Robyn Eshenroder, and C. Brad Skousen.
A viewing will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, June 13, at the Walker Sanderson Funeral Home, located at 646 East 800 North, Orem, Utah, 84097. A second viewing will be held from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 14, at the church building located at 1260 South 400 West, Orem, Utah, 84058. Funeral services will be held at the same building at 2:00 p.m.
