Vickie Razor, a cherished soul and beloved dog-sitter, passed away on January 29, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love and generosity. Born on June 17, 1950 in Dayton, OH, Vickie was known affectionately as a “greyhound gem”, embodying the spirit of independence and warmth. Since her retirement in 2013 Vickie has spent her time working with multiple rescues to find forever homes for an unknown number of dogs. Her love of dogs was unmatched, and it brought her immense joy to care for them, illustrating her nurturing nature and compassionate heart.
Throughout her life, Vickie was fiercely independent, extraordinarily giving and often put the needs of others before her own. It was an honor for those who knew her to call her a friend, as she had a remarkable ability to always be there for anyone in need. Her presence radiated kindness, and she had a unique way of making every person feel valued and cherished.
Vickie is survived by her son, Scott Atkinson and daughter-in-law Helene; her beloved grandson, Colton Atkinson; her devoted sister, Darlene Beane and brother-in-law Bobby; and her brothers, Jim Tamplin (Vanessa), Bob Brockschmidt, Tim Tamplin (Carol), Uncle John Papp with his wife Aunt Tommie, and Tom Tamplin (Susan). She is also remembered fondly by her loving niece, Jackie Greenwood; her nephew, Bill Witherspoon; and countless extended family and friends whose lives she touched with her boundless generosity and spirit.
Vickie joins her dearly departed parents, William Brockschmidt and Marie Cryder, in eternal rest, along with her siblings, Tina Minnick, Bill Brockschmidt, Pat Brockschmidt, Mike Brockschmidt and sister-in-law Deb Brockschmidt.
A visitation and funeral service to honor her beautiful spirit will be held at Newcomer North Chapel, located at 4104 Needmore Rd, Dayton, OH 45424. Visitation will take place on Thursday, February 6, 2025, from 3:00pm to 4:00pm, followed by a funeral service at 4:00pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Vickie's memory to the American Lurcher Project Inc. (11675 Council Ln, Gulf Shores, AL 36542 - PayPal.Me/americanlurchers).
Vickie Razor will be greatly missed by all who have had the privilege of knowing her. Her light will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of her loved ones, and her memory will forever be a source of comfort and inspiration.
