Virgil Lee Lyons Sr., a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on October 22, 2025, at the age of 76. Born on March 8, 1949, Virgil lived a life filled with love, hard work, and a unwavering commitment to his family and faith.

As a jack of all trades, Virgil held many jobs over the years, demonstrating a remarkable work ethic and versatility. His career was marked by a dedication to providing for his loved ones, embodying the spirit of a man who always took care of those he held dear. Virgil was known for his quiet strength, serving as the calm in the chaos that often surrounded him. His kind-hearted nature and sweet disposition endeared him to friends and family alike.

Virgil had an honorable military service, having proudly served in both the United States Army and the United States Army National Guard. His commitment to his country took him abroad to Saudi Arabia, as well as serving stateside. This experience shaped his character and instilled in him a sense of duty and honor that resonated throughout his life.

Faith played a vital role in Virgil's existence; he was strong in his beliefs and found joy in attending Cornerstone Baptist Temple. His spirituality was a guiding light, influencing those around him and allowing him to touch many lives with his gentle wisdom.

In addition to his family devotion, Virgil also had a passion for leisure activities, including bowling. In his younger years, he participated in a bowling league, where he forged friendships and cherished memories, finding joy in both the game and the camaraderie it brought.

Virgil leaves behind his beloved wife of 31 years, Margie Lyons; children Dona Preston and Virgil Lee Lyons Jr. (Tonya); and grandson Stewart Morani. He is also survived by his brother, Roger Lyons; sister-in-law, Sherry Howard; brother-in-law, Charles Hughes Jr.; and a multitude of friends and family members whose lives he touched so profoundly.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Viola Lyons, and his brother-in-law, Bobby Howard. Virgil's legacy of love, kindness, and hard work will forever be remembered by all who knew him. He will be dearly missed but lovingly remembered in the hearts of those who had the privilege of sharing their lives with him.

A visitation will be held from 10:00am to 11:00am on Thursday, November 13, 2025 at Cornerstone Baptist Temple, 1707 Ohmer Avenue, in Dayton, Ohio with Virgil's service starting at 11:00am. Following the service, Virgil will be laid to rest at Dayton National Cemetery.
