Vicky McBride Quillian finished her mission here on earth on October 30th, 2025. She was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Susan Quillian and her parents Robert and Frances McBride.
She is survived by her husband of 48 years, John B. Quillian. Her daughter Laura Bouknight, son-in-law Jeremy Bouknight and grandsons Judah and Bowen. Other cherished family members include her brother and sister-in-law, Ed and JoAnn Quillian.
Born in Madison, GA Vicky seemed to know from a young age the joy that it is to follow Christ and to know his presence. A graduate of Gordon State University, she pursued nursing as a career which expressed her passion for serving others and grew her gift of leadership. John and Vicky spent many years exploring together and experiencing the beauty of creation through canoeing, fishing, and rocking chairs.
While her life was marked by kidney disease, it was never her identity. She persisted every step of the way; up for anything and nothing could keep her down. She was a loving wife, present mother, compassionate friend, and faithful member of the body of Christ.
In her pursuit of knowing God, she earned an Education for Ministry diploma through Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Auburn, Alabama. Since moving to South Carolina to be closer to family and enjoy more time with her grandsons, she and John found The Church of the Ascension in Anderson, SC as a home to worship.
The life of Vicky Quillian is one worth imitating- rejoicing always, praying continually, and giving thanks in all circumstances.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, November 8, at Sullivan-King Mortuary Chapel conducted by The Rev. Chase Edgar. The family will receive friends from noon until 1 p.m. Saturday prior to the service.
A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, November 9, at Madison City Cemetery in Madison, GA.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Road, Anderson, SC 29621.
