Vicky J. Ross, 75, of Oswego, died at 6:34 A.M., Thursday, January 29, 2026 at her home surrounded by her family after battling cancer for ten months.

She was born February 21, 1950 at Independence, a daughter of George Forrest and Betty May (Kendrick) Gruver. She grew up at Wayside, Havana and Independence and graduated from the Wayside High School in 1967. She then attended the Independence Community College and later was in the nursing program at Labette Community College.

She was united in marriage to Danny Curtis Ross on September 16, 1967. The couple lived in Cherryvale and various communities before moving to Oswego in 1986. They later lived in Ft. Scott and Nevada and returned to Oswego in 1997. She was a homemaker for most of her adult life. She later worked as a drill sergeant at the correctional camp in Oswego and later served as a guard at the Kansas Army Ammunition Plant. She enjoyed spending time with her family out on the front porch drinking coffee.

She was a member of the First Assembly of God church at Oswego. In October 2025 she rededicated her life to Christ.

Survivors include: one son – Bryan Ross, address unknown; one daughter and son in-law – Tammy and Clay Reames, Oswego; eleven grandchildren; thirty-Five great-grandchildren; one brother – Jim Gruver, Independence; one sister – Georgia Grassi, Independence. She was preceded in death by her husband, Danny Ross, on August 7, 2024; one daughter – Kimberly Horn; two grandsons and one great-grandson.

Memorial graveside services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday February 7, 2026 at the Oswego Cemetery with Tom Horn officiating. Memorials are suggested to defray expenses. Checks can made payable to Tammy Ross and may be left at or mailed to the Carson-Wall Funeral Home, P.O. Box 942, Parsons, KS 67357. Online condolences may be left at www.wallfuneralservices.com.
