Vicky Lea Tanner

Vicky Lea Tanner was born May 23, 1954, in Iowa City, Iowa, the daughter of Donn and Patty (Tanner) Lewis. She graduated from North Tama High School in 1972. Vicky worked at Traer Manufacturing, then attended Hawkeye Community College, where she earned her degree in Accounting. She worked at Quest Communications, until working at the Meskwaki Casino. Later, Vicky was employed by the Isle Casino in Waterloo in the tour and travel department. She ran the Traer Redemption Center for many years.

Vicky had many hobbies, crocheting, crafting, antiquing and fishing. She loved seeing her grandchildren and going to the casino with her Mom. Vicky enjoyed bingo, word puzzles and the TV show Leave It to Beaver and Daddy Dearest.

Vicky passed away on Sunday, February 1, 2026, at UnityPointHealth-Allen Memorial, at the age of 71. She is preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Cletus Lewis and Mike Aswegan and her special friend, Tom Young. Vicky is survived by her sons, Brad (Melissa) Tanner of Traer and Scott Tanner of Jefferson, Iowa; four grandchildren, Allin, Madden, Creed and Kinlee Tanner; brother, Craig (Gerry) Aswegan of Cedar Rapids and sister, Lori (Doug) Hosek of Lincoln, Nebraska.

Visitation: Thursday, February 5, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am, at Overton Funeral Home, 714 First St., Traer, 50675.

Funeral Service: Thursday, February 5, 2026, at 11:00 am at Overton Funeral Home.

Burial: Thursday, February 5, 2026, following the funeral service at Buckingham Cemetery.
